PRO Hi-Tech's original post describes a conversation with hardware modder Vik-on about assembling DDR5 memory modules. The proposal used available circuit boards and separately sourced memory chips. It was assembly from existing components, not fabrication of new memory chips. [1]

## What the source supports

The post discusses the cost of a proposed 16 GB module and points to a timing screenshot. It also mentions using secondhand chips. These are the author's reported costs and observations in that post; they do not establish a repeatable saving for every buyer. [1]

## What a successful build would need to show

Before treating a custom module as ready for daily work, ask for evidence that the intended system recognizes it and remains stable under sustained memory testing. A screenshot showing a speed setting alone cannot demonstrate long-term reliability.

Include tools, donor parts, failed attempts and testing time in any cost comparison. For a development workstation holding valuable work, a cheap part is useful only if the complete system remains dependable.

This article documents the proposal. It does not provide a tested build procedure or claim that we assembled a module.
