Our typography carousel featured Helvetica, Futura, Roboto and Inter. Their names are useful starting points, but a typeface needs to work with your actual text, language and layout.

## Read the specimen and the source

Helvetica has several editions; Monotype's account explains changes made for Helvetica Now [1]. Futura's foundry describes its geometric design and original 1927 release [2]. Roboto is available through Google Fonts [3], and Inter's own site provides its specimen, features and downloads [4].

Do not assume two editions of a family have identical metrics or that every font file has the same license. Check the version and the permitted use before embedding it.

## Compare at the size readers will see

Use a paragraph, a long heading, a number-heavy label and a button. Inspect spacing, line breaks and how clearly similar characters can be distinguished. Test the languages your project needs, including fallback behavior for missing characters.

Choose weights deliberately rather than relying on a browser to synthesize them. A font that looks distinctive in a large title may be tiring in a dense article. Keep the comparison tied to reading and navigation, rather than treating popularity as proof that a typeface fits every page.
