Microsoft disputed the AI sales-target report

The December 2025 story included a company denial, so the original caption needs that context.

The original social caption said Microsoft had cut AI Copilot sales targets by up to 50 percent. That wording omitted an important dispute. On December 3, 2025, Reuters reported Microsoft's denial of a story about reduced growth targets for certain AI products. [1]

What Microsoft said

Microsoft told Reuters that aggregate sales quotas for AI products had not been lowered and argued that the report confused growth targets with sales quotas. Reuters also said it could not independently verify The Information's underlying report. [1]

That makes a blanket claim about halved Copilot targets too strong. The source describes contested reporting about particular products and sales units, alongside the company's response.

What to measure in your own adoption

If you are choosing an AI tool for a team, measure completed work, review effort and reliability on your own tasks. A vendor's sales target is a different measure from whether the product solves your problem.

Keep trials small enough to compare the result with the existing workflow. Include time spent correcting outputs when you assess the cost.
