MoCha is a research approach for generating talking-character video from speech and text. The March 2025 paper expands the task beyond facial animation to the full portrait of one or more characters [1].

## Speech, motion and dialogue

The authors describe a speech-video attention mechanism to align the audio and video. They also combine speech-labeled and text-labeled training data, and use character tags in prompts for multi-character, turn-based conversations [1].

Those are the specific research claims behind our social post about character movement. A generated video is not the same deliverable as an editable 3D rig, a reusable sprite sheet or a set of isolated limb animations. Do not assume the paper provides those assets.

## Evaluate the movement you need

For a talking-character project, inspect lip timing, hand movement and whether the character remains recognizable between frames. A convincing single frame does not establish that a whole clip will stay consistent.

Use the paper and its linked project material to assess the demonstrated task before choosing a production workflow. This article describes the research; it does not upload private character references, promise a public generation service or claim that its output has been tested on this website.
