Read Musk's prediction about phones and apps
The podcast described a possible AI interface and an uncertain timeline, not a released replacement phone.

In episode 2404 of The Joe Rogan Experience, Elon Musk said he was not working on a phone. He then predicted a future in which a device's interface would be generated through AI rather than conventional apps. The distinction matters: he was describing his forecast, not announcing a product. [1]
What he actually described
Around 1:06:32, Musk outlined a device with a screen, audio, radios and local AI communicating with server-side AI. He suggested placing computation on the device to reduce bandwidth needs. When Rogan asked for a timeline, Musk gave an uncertain estimate of five or six years. [1]
Treat interface predictions as hypotheses
That conversation does not establish that mobile operating systems or existing applications will disappear on a schedule. It also does not demonstrate a working system that can replace every task people perform on a phone.
For developers, a useful question is which actions can be expressed clearly through an assistant, and which still need a visible interface. Keep confirmation, permissions and recovery understandable regardless of how the user starts the action.
