What NVIDIA's $5 trillion milestone measured
The October 2025 milestone described the market value of shares, rather than cash, revenue or profit.

Bloomberg reported that NVIDIA reached a $5 trillion market capitalization on October 29, 2025. Its report recorded the shares closing at $207.16, putting the company just above that historical milestone. This is a dated market observation, not today's valuation. [1]
What market capitalization measures
Market capitalization multiplies a company's outstanding shares by the current price per share. The resulting figure describes the market value of the equity. [2]
It is different from the cash the company holds, its annual revenue and its profit. A headline about a trillion-dollar company can become misleading if it treats those measures as interchangeable.
Keep the date with the number
A share-price change can move market capitalization even when no new product ships that day. Use the same date and measure when comparing companies.
For developers following the AI industry, the milestone shows the scale of market expectations around a supplier. It does not directly measure the reliability, availability or value of any particular GPU or service.
