Read the OpenClaw and Deep Think announcements separately
Separate an agent project's governance change from a reasoning model release.

Peter Steinberger's February 14 announcement says he was joining OpenAI and working to move OpenClaw into an independent foundation. That is a project-governance announcement. [1]
Google's February 12 announcement concerns Gemini 3 Deep Think, a reasoning mode aimed at science and engineering. It announced access in the Gemini app for Google AI Ultra subscribers, alongside an API early-access program. [2]
Decide which problem you have
If you are evaluating OpenClaw, inspect the current project, supported integrations and permissions. A maintainer's employment change does not tell you which credentials an installed agent can access.
If you are evaluating Deep Think, start with a difficult task whose result you can verify. Google's announcement describes reasoning and engineering examples, including generating a printable model from a sketch. [2] Check the output with the relevant tools before using it.
Keep governance, model capability and product access as separate checks. Read the current access terms before paying for a plan based on an older launch announcement.
