> Try the Ponytail skill on a small change and review what it reuses before accepting the result.

Ponytail asks a coding agent to look for existing code and platform features before adding another implementation. Its README explicitly preserves validation, error handling, security and accessibility. [1]

## Install the Claude Code plugin

The official repository documents these as two separate Claude Code prompts: [1]

```text
/plugin marketplace add DietrichGebert/ponytail
```

```text
/plugin install ponytail@ponytail
```

Read the plugin's instructions before enabling it across projects. Start with a change you can review easily, such as replacing duplicated formatting logic with an existing helper.

## Review behavior as well as size

Check that the result keeps the original behavior, handles invalid input and still works with a keyboard where applicable. Fewer lines alone do not prove the change is correct.

The project's reported savings come from its own benchmark. They are not measurements of your repository. Its current README also documents `/ponytail-review` for reviewing changes and `/ponytail-audit` for examining a repository. [1]

Keep the before-and-after diff and your relevant test result together when deciding whether to retain the change.
