Sam Altman's September 2025 WELT interview described a possible future in which AI handles 30 to 40 percent of economic tasks. He separated tasks from jobs and did not attach that percentage to a firm 2030 deadline. His answer about powerful models by 2030 was a separate forecast. [1]

## Turn a forecast into a useful question

For a development team, start with one recurring task: drafting a test, summarizing an issue or proposing a small fix. Record the time spent reviewing and correcting the result, as well as the time saved writing it.

Decide who owns the final result before automating the task. Someone still needs to recognize a missing requirement and decide whether the change belongs in production.

The interview offers a prediction about change. It does not measure the percentage of your team's work that a tool can safely handle.
