Our carousel compared SEO, GEO and AIO. The useful distinction is between helping people find a page, studying its inclusion in generated answers, and making its content understandable. The labels do not create three guaranteed routes to traffic.

## What the terms describe

SEO means search engine optimization. Google's starter guide describes helping search engines understand content and helping users decide whether to visit a site [1].

GEO, or generative engine optimization, is also the name of a research framework for measuring and improving visibility in generated responses. Its authors evaluated techniques on a benchmark and found that their effectiveness varied by domain [2]. Those experimental results are not a promise that any particular website will be cited.

Our slides used AIO to mean artificial intelligence optimization, including clear structure and readable content. Treat that as the carousel's label, not a separate technical standard or a synonym for Google's AI Overviews.

## Work on observable problems

Make the page's subject clear. Use descriptive headings, link to evidence and keep important information accessible as text. Check whether search engines can reach the page before changing its wording for an imagined ranking formula.

Measure actual visits and citations where evidence is available. A clearer page can help readers even when a generated answer does not select it. Avoid promising rankings or citations from an acronym alone.
