OpenAI introduced Sora 2 on 2025-09-30 with synchronized dialogue and sound effects alongside generated video. The launch page now states that the Sora product has been unavailable since 2026-04-26. This historical announcement is not a recommendation to start a new Sora workflow. [1]
Read the original capability claims carefully
OpenAI described improved physical realism and control compared with earlier systems. Those were the company's comparisons at launch. A convincing generated scene still needed review for incorrect motion, changing details and mismatched audio. [1]
For any replacement video workflow, save the original images, edit instructions and exported clips outside the generation service. Keep track of which assets are approved for publication and which are private references.
Review the supported export formats and access terms before committing a project to a tool. A launch demonstration does not establish that the service will remain available for the lifetime of your work.
