Tabby's October 2025 announcement described a secondary share sale with an implied company valuation of $4.5 billion. HSG, Boyu Capital and other buyers purchased shares from existing investors. Tabby said it issued no new shares and received no money from the transaction. [1]

In this transaction, existing shareholders sold their holdings to new owners. The valuation described the company value implied by that deal. It did not mean Tabby raised $4.5 billion to spend on its business. [1]

The social caption also anticipated an IPO. This announcement did not establish a completed listing or a guaranteed listing date. Keep that expectation separate from the completed private share sale.

For a funding story, check whether the company issued new shares or investors traded existing ones. Then check the transaction amount separately from the company valuation. Those distinctions explain what changed without treating every large number as cash entering the business.
