Separate the allegations in xAI's 2025 employee lawsuit
Read the August 2025 complaint as a party's allegations, rather than a finding that OpenAI used stolen material.

xAI sued former employee Xuechen Li in August 2025 over alleged misappropriation of confidential information. The complaint is the source for the claims behind our social post [1].
What xAI alleged
The filing says Li sold approximately $7 million of company stock, copied confidential material to personal systems and accepted an offer from OpenAI. Those statements are allegations made by xAI in its complaint [1].
A complaint sets out what one side asks a court to accept. Its presence in a court record does not by itself establish that every allegation is true, or that a competitor received and used the material.
Keep the source and date attached
The original caption used the language of a completed theft. The more accurate account is a dated description of the lawsuit and the claims it made. The linked document was filed on August 28, 2025 [1].
This article covers that initial filing. It does not claim to establish the eventual outcome, liability, or the current status of the case. Those questions require later court orders and the rest of the record.
