What the xAI world-model report described
An October 2025 report described hiring and research plans; it did not demonstrate machines with feelings.

Cristina Criddle reported on 2025-10-12 that xAI had hired specialists from Nvidia to work on world models. The report described research into systems that could navigate and design physical environments, using video and robotics data. This was a report about development plans, not an evaluation of a released system. [1]
What the social caption overstates
The caption's language about minds that see and feel goes beyond the reported evidence. Predicting or generating an environment does not establish that a model has feelings or subjective experience.
What to look for in a demonstration
Ask what the system receives, what it predicts and whether an action changes the predicted result. Then look for evaluation on situations absent from the demonstration.
A convincing scene can show visual generation without proving that the system reliably understands physical consequences. Keep the task, test conditions and observed failures attached to any capability claim. Hiring and research announcements help identify a company's direction; published results are needed to assess what its system can do.
