Apple introduced direct Claude Agent and Codex integrations in Xcode 26.3. Its announcement describes agents searching documentation, changing project settings, building projects and inspecting previews. [1]

## Enable the provider you intend to use

Apple's setup guide directs you to Xcode > Settings > Intelligence. Enable the available agent or chat product there. Read the privacy information in that panel: prompts can give the provider access to project files and other information. [2]

The original announcement does not establish that every feature of a standalone coding tool behaves identically inside Xcode. Use Apple's integration documentation for supported behavior.

## Start with a small change

Ask the agent to fix one view or one failing test. Review the changed files, build the project and run the relevant tests. Open the preview or simulator to inspect the result.

When a task fails, keep the build error and the attempted change together. That makes the next request more specific than asking the agent to fix everything in the project.
